Roland-Story athletes compete at state cross country in Fort Dodge

A handful of Roland-Story student-athletes made the trip north and west on Saturday afternoon, to compete in the annual Iowa High School Cross Country Championships at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge.

The Roland-Story girls team took to the course for the 2A girls race at 2 PM, as Roland-Story would place 10th with 235 points. Claire Truesdell was the top Norsemen runner, placing 26th in a time of 20:00.7, while Sophie Bates was 62nd in 21:04.3. Gracey Haberl was 87th in 21:38.7, Brooke Thompson was 92nd in 21:48.8, while Kara Patterson rounded out scoring in 93rd with a time of 21:49.9. Mid-Prairie, Wellman would claim the 2A Team title with 84 points.

Roland-Story sophomore Corbin Lucchesi would run in the 2A Boys race as an individual on Saturday, as Lucchesi set a new PR by placing 19th in a time of 16:49.4. Grundy Center’s Emerson Volkes was the individual champion for the 2A boys, winning the race in a time of 15:37.5.
