The Webster City Lynx volleyball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they opened their Class 4A, Region 5 bracket by hosting the Boone Toreadors from the Raccoon River Conference at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 15-12, while Boone entered at 7-23.
Set 1 would be one of runs, as Webster City jumped out to a 7-2 lead, but Boone would go on a 9-2 run to go up 11-9. Webster City would regain control in the back half of the set and came away with a 25-19 win. Set 2 would be a struggle for the Lynx, as Boone led a majority of the set, but Webster City used a late run to come away with a 25-22 win, before taking care of business in set 3 by a score of 25-14 to win a 3-0 sweep.
The KQWC Player of the Game was senior right side attacker Olivia Gallentine, who had 11 kills, 3 aces, 17 assists and surpassed 500 career kills in the win. Marissa Hedeen finished with 11 kills, 3 blocks and an ace, while Tristyn Wright finished with 8 kills.
Webster City volleyball advances to the Class 4A, Region 5 semifinal on Thursday, as they travel to Sergeant Bluff to take on the Sergeant Bluff-Luton Warriors at 7 PM. The game can be heard on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
