The South Hamilton Hawks volleyball team returned to action on Monday night, as they opened their Class 2A, Region 5 bracket by making the trip to western Boone County to take on the Ogden Bulldogs out of the West Central Activities Conference. South Hamilton entered at 7-24, while Ogden entered at 8-16.
South Hamilton took an early lead in set 1, before Ogden put together a big run to take the lead back. The Hawks rallied late in the set, but Ogden held on for a 25-22 win. However, South Hamilton rallied by winning set 2 by a score of 25-20, then won set 3 by a score of 25-21. Ogden would get up off the mat and hold on to win set 4 25-20, before the Bulldogs used a late run to take set 5 and capture a 3-2 victory.
The KQWC Player of the Game was South Hamilton sophomore hitter Tessa Skartvedt, who finished with a game-high 15 kills, 2 aces and a block. Claire Hewitt finished with 7 kills and 3 aces, while Sara Scheller finished with 6 kills and a block.
Ogden advances to face (2A) #5 Aplington-Parkersburg at 7 PM on Wednesday night, South Hamilton’s season concludes with a record of 7-25.
