The Webster City Lynx cross country team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip north and east to Franklin County to compete in the annual North Central Conference meet at Maynes Grove Park outside of Hampton. The Lynx were joined by Algona, Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden and St. Edmond.
Webster City’s boys would place 4th in the meet with 85 points and a pair of top 10 finishers. Justin Callahan placed 4th with a time of 17:25.6, while Gave Thumma placed 8th in a time of 17:42.3. Jack Barner placed 14th in 18:08.5, Ivan Lopez was 29th in 19:40.5, while Jackson Olmstead was 30th in 19:42.5 to round out scoring.
The Lynx’s girls would place 7th in the meet with 169 points, as sophomore Izzy Grossoehme secured a top 5 finish by placing 5th, in a time of 20:40.5. Sydney Oswald placed 37th in 24:41.7, Lydia VanDeer placed 40th in 25:43.4, Abby Peterson was 42nd in 26:19.8, while Heidi Mendoza placed 45th in 27:35.1.
Webster City cross country returns to action next Thursday, when they compete in the Class 3A State Qualifying Meet at Waverly-Shell Rock.
