The Eagle Grove Eagles volleyball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip north to Cerro Gordo County to take on the Knights of Newman Catholic in non-conference action at Newman Catholic High School in Mason City. Eagle Grove entered at 3-14, while Newman Catholic entered at 8-9.
Set 1 would be a wacky one, as Eagle Grove opened up a 5-1 lead, before the Knights went on a 14-0 run. Newman Catholic led by as much as 12, before Eagle Grove cut it back to 5 late in the set, as Newman Catholic eventually closed a 25-19 win. Eagle Grove responded in the 2nd set, pulling away late for a 25-18 win to knot things up at 1-1. Newman Catholic would regain control with a dominant 25-12 win in set 3, before closing out a 25-18 win in set 4 to clinch a 3-1 victory.
Myah Edwards had a team-high 7 kills, while Tarissa Middleton finished with 6 kills. Natalie Pedersen finished with 5 kills and 4 blocks.
Eagle Grove volleyball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Cherokee to take on Cherokee, Washington in the Class 3A Regional Opener at 7 PM.
