The Eagle Grove Eagles football team returned to action on Friday night, as they made the long road trip into Palo Alto County to take on the Emmetsburg E-Hawks in Class 1A, District 2 action at Emmetsburg High School. Eagle Grove entered at 0-6, while Emmetsburg entered at 6-0 and ranked #4.
Emmetsburg started things quickly with a 5-play drive, capped off by a 1-yard touchdown run by Carson Baak to put the E-Hawks up 7-0. Following an Eagle Grove punt, the E-Hawks took only 2 plays to score on the ensuing drive, scoring on a 27-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Matthew Malm to Byron Maina to put the E-Hawks up 14-0. Eagle Grove would fumble the ensuing kickoff, as the E-Hawks recovered and turned it into points on a 5-yard touchdown run by Carson Baak to go up 21-0. Emmetsburg would score touchdown’s on a 17-yard run by Matthew Malm, a 55-yard run by Carson Baak, a 9-yard run by Carson Baak, and a 2-yard run by Tyce Jenness to put the E-Hawks up 49-0 at halftime.
Eagle Grove would be turned over on downs on the opening drive of the 2nd half as Jack Wilcoxon broke free for a 34-yard touchdown run on the opening play of the half for the E-Hawks to put Emmetsburg up 56-0. The E-Hawks would score the final touchdown off a run from Brennan Hasbrouck to clinch the final of 64-0.
Eagle Grove football returns to action on Friday night, when they wrap-up the regular season with a trip to Pocahontas Area to take on the Indians in Class 1A, District 2 action at 7 PM.
