The South Hamilton Hawks, Roland-Story Norsemen and Eagle Grove Eagles cross country teams returned to action on Thursday night, as South Hamilton hosted their annual Jim Klein Invitational at Jewell Golf and Country Club. The Hawks, Norsemen and Eagles were joined by AC/GC, Collins-Maxwell, Colo-NESCO, East Marshall, Madrid, Panorama and West Marshall.
Roland-Story’s girls would place 2nd as a team on Thursday with 72 points, as Claire Truesdell was the top placer, finishing 9th in a time of 20:26.40. Kara Patterson was 13th in a time of 21:39.70, Sophie Bates was 14th in 21:52.40, Gracey Haberl was 20th in 22:43.30, and Brooke Thompson rounded out scoring in 21st, with a time of 22:50.70.
South Hamilton’s girls placed 9th with 192 points, as Cici Herrick was the Hawks top placer, finishing 23rd in 22:59.10. Olivia Beaune was 31st in 23:34.80, Brooklyn Doolittle was 36th in 24:01.30, Isabel Swenson was 58th in 26:03, while McKenna Miller rounded out scoring in 60th with a time of 26:24.30.
Eagle Grove’s girls would place 10th with 258 points, as Myka Anderson was the top placer, finishing 38th in a time of 24:11.80. Maria Perez was 54th in 25:37.70, Elizabeth Lopez was 66th in 28:14.60, Baylee Steig was 68th in 28:27.50, while Payton Terwilliger rounded out scoring in 70th with a time of 28:54.20.
Roland-Story’s boys would place 4th in their meet with 87 points, as Corbin Lucchesi took home gold for the first time in his varsity career, winning the race in a time of 17:15.10. Henry Dahlsten was 14th in 18:58.10, Owen Johnson was 21st in 19:33.00, Caleb Danielson was 25th in 19:44.90, while Luccas Hart rounded out scoring in 33rd with a mark of 20:15.60.
South Hamilton’s boys placed 8th with 174 points, as Hayden Hill was the Hawks top placer, finishing 10th in 18:32.00. Laken Zanker was 27th in 19:48.30, Carson Gibbs was 49th in 21:44.10, Thomas Wirth was 55th in 22:34.60 and Trevor Zanker rounded out scoring in 65th with a time of 23:28.50.
South Hamilton and Roland-Story cross country will return to action on Monday, when they run at the annual Heart of Iowa Conference meet at Hickory Grove Park outside of Nevada. Eagle Grove cross country returns to action on Thursday, when they run at the Top of Iowa Conference Meet at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City.
