Webster City, CGD and Eagle Grove cross country compete in home meet for Eagles

The Webster City Lynx, BK-CGD Broncos and Eagle Grove Eagles cross country teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as Eagle Grove hosted their home meet at Eagle Grove Country Club. The Eagles, Lynx and Broncos were joined by Algona, Bishop Garrigan, Central Springs, Emmetsburg, Estherville-Lincoln Central, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, GTRA, Humboldt, North Iowa, South Hardin and West Fork.

Webster City’s boys would place 4th as a team with 149 points, as their top placer was junior Justin Callahan, who placed 13th in a time of 18:17.65. Jack Barner placed 17th in 18:32.56, Gabe Thumma was 20th in 18:44.45, Ivan Lopez was 46th in 20:10.42, while Jackson Olmstead rounded out scoring in 53rd with a time of 20:31.77.

Eagle Grove’s boys placed 9th with 234 points, as their top placer was Hunter Waldo-Martinez, who placed 30th in a time of 19:22.27. Asarel Castro was 37th in 19:42.26, Felix Reyes was 51st in 20:22.83, Felix Gonzalez was 55th in 20:40.65, and Dylan Beck rounded out scoring in 61st with a time of 21:10.68.

The BK-CGD boys would place 12th with 263 points, with their top placer in Christopher Greenfield, who placed 24th with a time of 19:01.02. Tate Jackson placed 34th in 19:33.57, Nolan Muhlenbruch was 49th in 20:16.57, Ethan Vestweber-Boots was 77th in 22:21.08, before Logan Torsell rounded out the scoring in 79th in 22:56.15.

The BK-CGD girls would place 6th with 141 points, as their top placer was Lila Swenson, finishing 16th in 24:04.36. Avery Boeshart placed 18th in 24:18.71, Lillyann Aguilera was 33rd in 25:14.08, Kendra Huedepohl was 36th in 26:48.89, while Johanna Perez rounded out scoring in 46th with a time of 28:31.36.

Webster City’s girls would place 8th with 170 points, as their top placer was sophomore Izzy Grossoehme, who secured another top 10 finish by placing 8th in 22:34.49. Sydney Oswald would place 30th in 25:55.41, Lydia VanDeer was 35th in 26:46.95, Abby Peterson was 45th in 28:27.97, while Heidi Mendoza rounded out scoring in 52nd in 30:06.14.

Eagle Grove’s girls would place 9th with 180 points, as their top placer was Myka Anderson, who placed 17th in a time of 24:12.78. Maria Perez was 32nd in 26:22.87, Payton Terwilliger was 40th in 27:12.99, Elizabeth Lopez was 47th in 28:47.12, was Gabriela Lobato was 53rd in 30:56.94.

Webster City cross country returns to action next Tuesday when they travel to Maynes Grove outside of Hampton for the North Central Conference meet. Eagle Grove cross country returns to action on Thursday, when they run at the South Hamilton Invite in Jewell, while BK-CGD returns to action on Monday, when they compete in the Forest City Invite at Bear Creek Golf Course.
