The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys football team returned to action on Friday night, as they made the trip north into Winnebago County to take on the Forest City Indians in Class 2A, District 2 action at Forest City High School. CGD entered Friday with a 1-4 record, while Forest City entered at 2-3.
Forest City took the football first and marched down the field, capping the drive with a 6-yard touchdown pass from Ty Dillavou to Lucas Kearney to put the Indians up 6-0. CGD would go 3-and-out on their first offensive drive, punting the ball back to Forest City, who took the clock into the 2nd quarter, before scoring on a 16-yard touchdown pass from Ty Dillavou to Carsen Hall to take a 15-0 lead after the 2-point conversion. That 15-0 lead would hold serve until halftime.
The 3rd quarter would be a slow one until the end of the frame, as Charlie Campbell picked off a tipped screen pass and ran it back 27 yards for a touchdown to cut the deficit to 15-7. However, Forest City answered in a big way on their ensuing drive, as Dillavou went up top to Corey Thoreson for a 66-yard touchdown pass to put the Indians up 22-7. CGD would get back within a touchdown off a 20-yard run by Charlie Campbell, but the Cowboys would not get any closer as Forest City held on for a 22-14 win.
