The Roland-Story Norsemen cross country teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip south and west to Dallas County to compete in the annual Perry Invitational at Perry Golf and Country Club. The Norsemen were joined by the host Bluejays, as well as Ballard, Boone, Des Moines Christian, Des Moines Hoover, Des Moines North, Greene County, Perry, Saydel and Winterset.
Roland-Story’s boys would place 2nd with 76 points, as Winterset was the team champs with 41 points. Corben Lucchesi had the top Norsemen time, placing 4th with a mark of 18:04.85, while Henry Dahlsten was 12th in a time of 18:43.58. Evan Voga was 14th in 19:06.48, Owen Johnson was 21st in 19:38.73, while Luccas Hart rounded out scoring in 25th with a time of 19:59.14.
Roland-Story’s girls would place 3rd with 58 points, one point by behind Ballard as Winterset was team champs with 42 points. Claire Truesdell was the top Norsemen runner, placing 7th in a time of 21:06.94, while Sophie Bates placed 10th in 21:58.09. Kara Patterson was 11th in 21:58.37, Brooke Thompson was 14th in 22:36.67, while Gracey Haberl rounded out scoring in 16th with a time of 22:45.31.
Roland-Story cross country returns to action next Thursday, when they compete in the South Hamilton Invitational at Jewell Golf and Country Club.
