The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls volleyball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Humboldt Wildcats in North Central Conference action at CGD High School in Clarion. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows entered at 5-20 and 1-3 in NCC play, while Humboldt entered at 14-8 and 4-0 in NCC play.
CGD would get off to a good start in the opener on Tuesday night, leading Humboldt by a score of 7-2 at one juncture. Humboldt would come roaring back however, taking the opening set 25-16. The Wildcats would not loosen their grip on the dominance either, winning the second set 25-12, before winning the 3rd set 25-16 to close out the 3-0 sweep.
The KQWC Player of the Game was CGD outside hitter Claire Kirstein, who finished with 3 kills. Elliott Ennis finished 2 kills and 2 blocks, while Maddie Askvig had a pair of aces. Mia Schluter led Humboldt with 10 kills on the night.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball returns to action next Thursday, when they take on Algona in NCC action at 7:30 PM.
