The Roland-Story Norsemen and South Hamilton Hawks cross country teams returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip to eastern Story County to compete in the annual Nevada Invitational at Hickory Grove Park in Colo. The Norsemen and Hawks were joined by the host Cubs, as well as BCLUW, Colo-NESCO, East Marshall, Gilbert, Iowa Falls-Alden, North Polk, PCM, South Hardin and West Marshall.
Roland-Story would place 5th in the boys meet with 151 points, as Corbin Lucchesi secured another top-10 finish, placing 6th in 17:53.8. Evan Voga was 30th in 19:48.8, Henry Dahlsten was 31st in 19:52, Owen Johnson was 34th in 20:01.1, while Luccas Hart was 50th in 21:10.7 to round out scoring.
South Hamilton’s boys would place 11th with 270 points, as Hayden Hill had the top finish, placing 27th in 19:36.9. Laken Zanker was 45th in 20:31.7, Thomas Wirth was 65th in 22:23.9, Carson Gibbs was 71st in 24:41.0, while Emmett Beach rounded out scoring at 24:41.1.
Roland-Story’s girls would place 3rd with 100 points on the night, as Claire Truesdell placed 10th in 22:12.2. Sophie Bates was 18th in 22:43.3, Kara Patterson was 19th in 22:46.8, Andrea Ziegler was 28th in 23:24.3, while Brooke Thompson rounded scoring in 31st with a time of 23:42.6.
South Hamilton’s girls placed 10th with 241 points, as Cici Herrick took home the top finish for the Hawks in 34th with a time of 23:52.0. Olivia Beaune was 37th in 24:04.1, Brooklyn Doolittle was 56th in 26:08.7, Isabel Swenson was 63rd in 27:20.4, and McKenna Miller rounded out scoring at 27:26.0.
Roland-Story cross country returns to action on Thursday, when they compete in the Perry Invitational at the Perry Golf and Country Club. South Hamilton cross country returns to action next Thursday, when they host their home meet at Jewell Golf and Country Club.
