The South Hamilton Hawks football team returned to action on Friday night, as they made the long trip south into Adair County to take on the Nodaway Valley Wolverines in Class 1A, District 7 action at Nodaway Valley High School in Greenfield. South Hamilton entered at 1-3 and 1-0 in district play, while Nodaway Valley entered at 0-4 and 0-1 in district play.
South Hamilton forced a stop on their opening defensive drive, as the Hawks took their first offensive drive down the field and scored on a 9-yard touchdown run by Nick Severseike to put the Hawks up 8-0. South Hamilton would find the endzone again in the 2nd quarter, this time on a 5-yard touchdown run by fullback Ashton Williams, top put the Hawks up 16-0, as the score would hold until the halftime break.
The Hawks would come out of the halftime break and put their foot on the gas, as Kolby Hodnefield took the opening play of the 2nd half 55 yards for a touchdown to put South Hamilton up 24-0. Following a Nodaway Valley turnover on downs, the Hawks once more marched down the field and scored on a 10-yard touchdown run by Braden Young to make the score 30-0. South Hamilton would put the finishing touches on things with a 6-yard touchdown run by Kolby Hodnefield to bring the final score to 38-0.
The ground attack was in full gear for South Hamilton on Friday, rushing for 370 yards in the game. Kolby Hodnefield led the Hawks with 127 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Nick Severseike finished with 120 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Ashton Williams would also rush for 77 yards on 14 carries and score a touchdown.
South Hamilton football returns to action on Friday, when they host the Ogden Bulldogs for homecoming at Bill Taylor Field, in Class 1A, District 7 action with kickoff at 7 PM.
