The Eagle Grove Eagles football team returned to action on Friday night, as they hosted the Cougars of Manson-Northwest Webster in Class 1A, District 2 action on homecoming night at Gene Hinrichsen Field in Eagle Grove. Eagle Grove entered Friday at 0-4, while Manson-Northwest Webster entered at 3-1.
Manson-Northwest Webster took the football first and marched the field, scoring on a Kamden Birkey 13-yard touchdown run to put the Cougars up 8-0. Following an Eagle Grove punt, the Cougars would score once more, this time on a 17-yard touchdown run by fullback Cooper Harman to put the Cougars up 16-0. Manson would score one more touchdown before half, as Birkey scored his 2nd touchdown of the night on an 11-yard touchdown run as the Cougars led 24-0 at the halftime break.
Scoring would stall for awhile in the 3rd quarter, but the Cougars punched in another score, this time a 40-yard touchdown pass from Logan Moline to Matt Condon to make the score 31-0. Manson-Northwest Webster would put one more touchdown on the board in the 3rd quarter on a 13-yard touchdown run by Matt Condon to bring the final to 38-0.
Trenton Robinson led the Eagles rushing attack, as he carried the ball 11 times for 39 yards. Arturo Reyna Salazar was the KQWC Player of the Game with 5.5 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and a sack on Friday night.
Eagle Grove football returns to action on Friday, when they host East Sac County in Class 1A, District 2 action at Gene Hinrichsen Field at 7 PM.
