The Roland-Story Norsemen and South Hamilton Hawks cross country teams returned to action on Thursday night, as the two teams compete in the annual Roland-Story Invite at River Bend Golf Course in Story City. The Norsemen and Hawks were joined by Ballard, Bondurant-Farrar, Clear Lake, Gilbert, Greene County, Madrid, Nevada, North Polk, Ogden, Saydel, Southeast Valley and Woodward Academy.
Roland-Story’s girls would place 5th in a hotly contested girls team race, finishing with 111 points. Claire Truesdell had the highest Norsemen finish in 9th with a time of 20:58.94, while Kara Patterson was 19th in 22:00.60. Brooke Thompson was 22nd in 22:22.32, Sophie Bates was 29th in 22:54.06, while Brinley Carlson was 35th in 23:15.29.
South Hamilton placed 8th with 212 points, as Cici Herrick was the top placer for the Hawks, finishing 24th in 22:29.15. Olivia Beanue was 30th in 22:54.93, Brooklyn Doolittle was 54th in 24:20.28, McKenna Miller was 68th in 25:15.14, while Isabel Swenson rounded out scoring in 74th in a time of 25:29.62.
Roland-Story’s boys would place 7th with 192 points, as Corbin Lucchesi secured a top-5 finish by placing 4th in 17:11.50. Evan Voga placed 35th in 18:17.19, Henry Dahlsten was 42nd in 18:37.69, Caleb Danielson was 56th in 19:35.71, while Luccas Hart rounded out scoring in 61st in a time of 19:52.66.
South Hamilton’s boys placed 12th with 335 points, as Hayden Hill was their top runner, placing 33rd in 18:14.68. Laken Zanker placed 60th in 19:50.67, Thomas Wirth was 76th in 21:28.90, Carson Gibbs placed 81st in 22:57.02, while Trevor Zanker placed 85th in 23:31.05 to round out scoring.
Roland-Story and South Hamilton cross country will both return to action on Monday, when they compete at the Nevada Cross Country Meet at Hickory Grove Park.
