The South Hamilton Hawks and Roland-Story Norsemen volleyball teams returned to action on Thursday night, as the two sides renewed their long-standing rivalry in Heart of Iowa Conference action at South Hamilton High School in Jewell. South Hamilton entered with a record of 6-17, while Roland-Story entered at 14-1 and ranked #12 in Class 3A.
Roland-Story got out of the gates fast and dominated the opening set by a 25-6. South Hamilton managed to rebound and compete better, but the Norsemen continued to execute on the offensive end and prey off of Hawks mistakes for a 25-12 set 2 win, followed by a 25-14 set 3 win and 3-0 sweep.
The KQWC Player of the Game for Roland-Story was senior middle hitter Kam Lande, who finished with 13 kills, 2 aces and a block. The KQWC Player of the Game for South Hamilton was sophomore middle hitter Tessa Skartvedt, who finished with 2 kills and 2 blocks.
Roland-Story volleyball returns to action on Monday, when they host their home tournament at Roland-Story High School beginning at 4:30 PM. South Hamilton volleyball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to State Center to take on West Marshall in Heart of Iowa Conference action at 6:30 PM.
