Webster City, CGD cross country performs well at Riverhawk Invite

The Webster City Lynx and CGD-BK Broncos cross country teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip north on I-35 to compete in the Riverhawk Invitational at Mason City High School in Mason City. The Lynx and Broncos were joined by Des Moines North, Fort Dodge, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Newman Catholic, Waterloo East and Waverly-Shell Rock.

Webster City’s girls would place 7th with 149 points, as their top placer was sophomore Izzy Grossoehme, who set a new school-record in the 5k with a time of 21:02.4 and placed 5th. Abby Peterson was 36th in 26:29.7, Sydney Oswald was 37th in 26:31.8, Lydia VanDeer was 38th in 26:31.9, while Karina Murray rounded out scoring in 42nd with a time of 29:09.6.

CGD-BK’s girls placed 6th with 129 points, as Lila Swenson was the top placer in 15th with a time of 23:01.8. Avery Boshart was 24th in 24:13, Lillyann Aguilera was 29th in 25:14.9, Clementine Sifert was 33rd in 25:47, as Kendra Huedepohl rounded out scoring in 35th with a time of 26:27.7.

Webster City’s boys placed 6th with 130 points, with Justin Callahan the top placer in 5th with a time of 17:35.1, while Jack Barner was 14th in 18:20.1. Gabe Thumma was 20th in 18:46.1, Jackson Olmstead was 44th in 19:56.3, while Ivan Lopez rounded out scoring in 47th in 20:05.3.

CGD-BK would place 8th with 229 points, as Christopher Greenfield was the top placer in 15th with a time of 18:27.7. Tate Jackson was 37th in 19:29.8, Nolan Muhlenbruch was 52nd in 20:30.8, Ethan Vestweber-Boots was 68th in 22:19.1, while Logan Torsell was 72nd in 22:25.

Webster City cross country returns to action on Monday, when they compete in the Algona Invitational at River Road Golf Course in Algona. CGD-BK’s cross country team returns to action on Monday as well, when they compete in Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Invitational at the Garner Golf and Country Club.
