Webster City, Roland-Story and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball compete in Forest City Tournament

The Webster City Lynx, Roland-Story Norsemen and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball teams returned to action on Saturday morning, as they made the drive to far northern Iowa to compete in the Forest City Tournament at Forest City High School. The 3 schools were joined by the host Indians, as well as Algona, Central Springs, Clear Lake and Lake Mills.

Webster City would have a tough day, finishing with an 0-4 record. The Lynx opened with a 2-0 (7-21, 10-21) loss to Roland-Story, before a 2-0 (19-21, 13-21) loss to Forest City. Clear Lake would extract revenge from conference play with a 2-1 (21-18, 7-21, 12-15) win over the Lynx, before Webster City rounded out the day with a 2-1 (18-21, 25-23, 10-15) loss to Central Springs.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would go 1-3 on the day, opening their tournament with a 2-0 (20-22, 20-22) loss to NCC rival Algona. The Cowgirls followed up with a 2-0 (15-21, 9-21) loss to Central Springs, before picking up their lone win over Lake Mills by a 2-1 (21-19, 17-21, 15-10) margin. CGD ended the day with a 2-0 (14-21, 15-21) loss to Roland-Story.

Roland-Story would go 4-0 and claim the tournament title, beginning their day with a 2-0 (21-7, 21-10) win over Webster City. The Norsemen the swept Clear Lake 2-0 (22-20, 21-6), before holding off host Forest City 2-1 (21-17, 17-21, 15-12). The Norsemen capped the day with a 2-0 (21-14, 21-15) sweep of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows.

Webster City volleyball fell to 8-8, and return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Fort Dodge to take on St. Edmond at 7:30 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows improved to 4-13, and return to action on Tuesday when they host a tri-match with Algona and Pocahontas Area, beginning at 6 PM. Roland-Story volleyball improved to 13-1 and host Perry in Heart of Iowa Conference action on Tuesday night at 6:30 PM.
