The South Hamilton Hawks volleyball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip south to the Des Moines metro to take on the Saydel Eagles in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Saydel High School. South Hamilton entered with a mark of 5-16, while Saydel entered at 2-9.
The first set would be a back-and-forth affair, but South Hamilton stringed together a late rally to cap off a 25-21 set 1 win. The next two sets following would be dominating ones from the Hawks, taking down the Eagles 25-13 in set 2, and finally 25-14 in set 3 to capture a 3-0 sweep and South Hamilton’s first conference win of the season.
Sophomore Tessa Skartvedt would put together a big night with 6 kills, 7 aces and a block, while Daytona Ferrie had a team-high 7 kills. Sara Scheller also finished with 6 kills, 2 blocks and an ace.
South Hamilton volleyball returns to action on Monday, when they host Grand View Christian in Heart of Iowa Conference action at South Hamilton High School, starting at 6:30 PM.
