The Webster City Lynx, Roland-Story Norsemen and Eagle Grove Eagles cross country teams returned to action on Monday, as they made the trip south to Huxley to compete in the 44th annual Mike Carr XC Invite at the Ballard Golf and Country Club. The Lynx, Norsemen and Eagles were joined by the host Bombers, as well as ADM, Atlantic, Bondurant-Farrar, Boone, Carlisle, Dallas Center-Grimes, Des Moines Christian, Humboldt, Indianola, Iowa Falls-Alden, Madrid, Nevada, Nodaway Valley, North Polk, Pella, Winterset and Woodward-Granger.
Webster City’s boys placed 7th in Class A with 185 points. Jack Barner was the Lynx’s top placer, finishing 22nd in a time of 18:59.3, while Justin Callahan was 23rd in 19:00.2. Gabe Thumma was 43rd in 20:23.9, Daniel Murillo Delfin was 47th in 21:00.6 and Jackson Olmstead was 50th in 21:19.8.
Webster City’s girls placed 9th with 225 points, as Izzy Grossoehme was the top placer, finishing 17th in 22:41.3. Lydia VanDeer would place 5oth, Abby Peterson was 51st, Sydney Oswald was 53rd, while Karina Murray was 54th.
Roland-Story would place 4th in the Class B boys field with 158 points. Sophomore Corbin Lucchesi was the top placer, finishing 7th in 18:16.8, while senior Evan Voga was 19th in 19:21.2. Henry Dahlsten was 30th in 20:01.5, Owen Johnson was 31st in 20:03.1, while Caleb Danielson rounded out scoring in 39th at 20:28.8.
Eagle Grove’s boys would place 10th in the Class B field with 245 points, as Felix Reyes was their top place, finishing 34th in 20:04.1. Hunter Waldo-Martinez was 37th in 20:08.8, Asarel Castro was 53rd in 21:52.9, Dylan Beck was 60th in 22:46.2 and Anthony Vazquez rounded out scoring in 61st in 22:47.7.
Roland-Story’s girls would place 6th in the Class B field with 125 points, as Claire Truesdell was the top Norsemen, placing 13th in 21:52.8. Kara Patterson was 19th in 22:59.1, Brinley Carlson was 29th in 24:01.0, Grave Haberl was 30th in 24:01.8, while Sophie Bates rounded out scoring in 34th at 24:26.2.
Eagle Grove placed 9th in Class B with 249 points, as their top placer was freshman Myka Anderson, who placed 44th in 26:05. Maria Perez was 45th, Crystal Flores was 49th, Elizabeth Lopez was 53rd and Jaymie Anderson rounded out scoring in 58th.
Webster City cross country returns to action next Tuesday, when they compete in a meet at Mason City. Roland-Story returns to action next Thursday, when they host their home meet at River Bend Golf Course in Story City, while Eagle Grove returns to action next Monday, when they compete in the annual Humboldt Invite at Joe Sheldon County Park in Humboldt.
