The South Hamilton Hawks cross country teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the short trip east on Highway 175 to compete in the annual South Hardin Invitational at Pine Lake Country Club outside of Eldora. The Hawks were joined by the host Tigers, as well as Aplington-Parkersburg, BCLUW, Dike-New Hartford, East Marshall, Grundy Center, Gladbrook-Reinbeck, GMG, Hudson, Janesville, Jesup, Meskwaki, Nevada, North Tama and West Marshall.
South Hamilton’s girls would place 10th on Thursday with 193 points, with Cici Herrick as the top placer, finishing 19th in 25:13.1. Olivia Beaune was 26th in 25:33.4, Brooklyn Doolittle was 35th in 26:17, Kayley Zanker was 55th in 28:15.5, while Isabel Swenson rounded out the lineup in 58th in 28:39.3.
South Hamilton’s boys would place 12th on Thursday with 275 points, as Hayden Hill was the top placer, finishing 20th in 19:59.4. Layken Zanker was 42nd in a time of 21:44.4, Carson Gibbs was 68th in 23:59.9, Thomas Wirth was 72nd in 25:07.4, while Emmett Beach rounded out scoring in 73rd in a time of 25:21.2.
South Hamilton cross country returns to action next Thursday. when they compete in the Gilbert Invitational at the Iowa State Cross Country Course in Ames at 5 PM.
