Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball loses heartbreaker to Iowa Falls-Alden, 3-2

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball team returned to action on Thursday night, when they hosted the Cadets of Iowa Falls-Alden in North Central Conference action at CGD High School. The Cowgirls entered Thursday at 2-3, while the Cadets entered with a mark of 1-2.

CGD would get off to a solid start to the night, taking set 1 by a 25-18 margin, and holding off a late IF-A rally in set 2 to win 25-22. However, the tide began to turn in the 3rd set as IF-A sneaked out a 25-22 win, before the 4th set went into extra rallies, which saw the Cadets pull out a 28-26 win to take the match to a 5th set. The Cadets used their momentum to roll the Cowgirls in set 5 by a 15-4 margin to complete the 3-2 comeback win.

The KQWC Player of the Game was CGD senior Elliot Ennis, as she finished with 12 kills, 6 blocks and 4 aces on the night. Freshman Ella Finneran finished with 6 kills for the Cowgirls, as Carlea Dagel had a game-high 15 kills for Iowa Falls-Alden.
