Webster City hosts home cross country meet with all area teams on Tuesday

All 5 KQRadio cross country teams opened their 2024 season on Tuesday night, as the 4 joined a number of other teams at Links Public Golf Course in Webster City for the annual Webster City Lynx Invite. The Lynx, Hawks, Norsemen, Cowboys and Eagles were joined by Algona, Belmond-Klemme, Boone, Fort Dodge, Gilbert, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt, Manson-Northwest Webster, North Polk, Southeast Valley, St. Edmond and Waverly-Shell Rock.

Webster City would compete in the “Purple Division” on Tuesday, placing 6th as a team with 133 points. The Lynx top placer was junior Justin Callahan, who placed 11th in a time of 18:12.20. Jack Barner was 21st in 18:58.80, Gabe Thumma was 27th in 19:45.50, Ivan Lopez was 33rd in 20:14, and Jackson Olmstead was 41st in 20:52.40.

Webster City’s girls would not place as a team on Tuesday, as Isabel Grossoehme was the top Lynx finisher, placing 17th in 22:28.20. Lydia VanDeer would place 38th in 27:01.60, while Abby Peterson placed 43rd and Karina Murray was 44th.

Roland-Story’s girls highlighted performances in the “Gold Division” as the Norsemen girls won the meet with 37 points. Claire Truesdell placed 5th in 21:59.40, Brooke Thompson was 6th in 22:58.40, Kara Patterson was 7th in 23:02.50, Brinley Carlson was 8th in 23:22.20 and Hadley Carlson rounded out scoring by placing 11th in 23:54.80.

South Hamilton’s girls were 4th in the “Gold Division” as Cici Herrick placed 9th in a time of 23:34.10 for the top placer for the Hawks. Olivia Beaune was 10th in 23:41.60, Brooklyn Doolittle was 27th in 25:25.60, Bianca Seaton was 30th in 26:15.80, as Kayley Zanker rounded out scoring in 34th at 26:40.10.

Eagle Grove’s girls did not compete as a full squad as Myka Anderson was the top placer, finishing 22nd in 25:00.60, while Maria Perez was 39th in 27:38.90. Payton Terwilliger was 41st in 28:17.70, Crystal Flores was 44th in 28:30.10, while Elizabeth Lopez was 47th in 29:25.40.

CGD-BK did not field a complete girls team as well, with Avery Boeshart placing 25th in 25:11.20, Clementine Sifert was 37th in 26:59.60, Kendra Huedepohl was 40th in 28:14.30, while Lillyann Aguilera was 45th in 29:10.90.

On the boys side, Roland-Story would place 4th as a team with 99 points. Corbin Lucchesi was 4th in a time of 18:01.80, while Henry Dahlsten was 14th in 19:32.60. Caleb Danielson was 24th in 20:19.10, Luccas Hart was 27th in 20:26.30 and Owen Johnson rounded out scoring in 30th in a time of 20:40.30.

Eagle Grove was 5th at 134 points in the boys meet, as Zabdi Castro placed 6th in a time of 18:51.00. Felix Reyes was 28th in 20:27.40, Hunter Waldo-Martinez was 32nd in 20:54.20, Anthony Vasquez was 33rd in 20:55.20, as Felix Gonzalez rounded out the lineup in 35th, with a time of 20:59.50.

CGD-BK was 8th with 184 points, as Christopher Greenfield was the top placer in 17th, with a time of 19:52.50. Tate Jackson was 22nd in 20:04.70, Nolan Muhlenbruch was 39th in 21:35.40, as Ethan Vestweber-Boots was 51st in 23:56.70, and Logan Torsell rounded out the lineup at 55th in 24:11.60.

Finally, South Hamilton’s boys were 9th with 200 points, as Hayden Hill placed 10th in 19:13.80. Laken Zanker was 26th in 20:23.30, Carson Gibbs was 53rd in 24:07, Trevor Zanker was 54th in 24:07.40, while Thomas Wirth was 57th in 25:34.60.

Other team champions included Ballard in the Girls Purple Division with 39 points, Gilbert in the Boys Purple Division with 18 points, and Algona in the Boys Gold Division with 49 points.
