South Hamilton volleyball swept by Nevada on Tuesday

The South Hamilton Hawks volleyball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as the Hawks opened their Heart of Iowa Conference schedule by hosting the Nevada Cubs at South Hamilton High School in Jewell. South Hamilton entered at 2-8 on Tuesday night, while Nevada entered at 2-0.

Things got off to a promising start for South Hamilton, hanging tough with the defending conference champions throughout most of the first set before Nevada pulled away for a 25-13 win. However, the Cubs would dominate from there on out, as the Cubs won the 2nd set by a wide margin of 25-2, before closing out the match with a 25-5 win for a 3-0 sweep.

South Hamilton’s Sara Scheller was the KQWC Player of the Game, finishing with 2 kills, 3 blocks and an ace, while Tessa Skartvedt and Claire Hewitt finished with 3 kills each. Rachel Borwick led Nevada with 10 kills, while Kaitlyn McGaffin finished with 8 aces on the night.

South Hamilton volleyball returns to action on Saturday, when they compete in the South Central Calhoun Tournament in Lake City, beginning at 9 AM.
