The Roland-Story Norsemen volleyball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip west on Highway 30 to compete in the Carroll Kuemper Tournament at Carroll Kuemper High School. The Norsemen were joined by the host Knights, as well as Ames, Greene County and Ogden.
Roland-Story started with a 2-1 win over Ames High by sets of 21-15, 15-21 and 15-12. Kam Lande finished with 9 kills and 2 aces, while Caitlyn Flattebo finished with 7 kills and an ace. Miley Geise tallied 23 assists and 2 kills in the match.
This was followed up by a 2-0 win over HOIAC foe Greene County by sets of 21-14 and 21-7. Sophomore Brooklyn Jondle finished with 9 kills and 4 aces, while Miley Geise tallied 16 assists and 4 kills in the match.
The Norsemen then swept Ogden by a count of 2-0 with sets of 21-11 and 21-10. Miley Geise would lead the way with 4 kills and 7 assists, as Kam Lande finished with 3 kills and 2 assists, while Brookelyn Jondle finished with 3 kills.
Roland-Story ended the tournament by facing Kuemper Catholic, ranked #10 in Class 3A, and fell 2-1 in a closely contested match by sets of 19-21, 21-17 and 11-15. Brookelyn Jondle had a big match with 13 kills and 2 blocks against the Knights, while Kam Lande added 6 kills of her own. Miley Geise finished with 2 kills and 24 assists in the match.
Roland-Story finished the tournament with a 3-1 record and return Thursday night to open Heart of Iowa Conference action by hosting Saydel at 6:30 PM at Roland-Story High School.
