The South Hamilton Hawks, Eagle Grove Eagles and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls volleyball teams returned to action on Saturday morning, as CGD hosted their annual home tournament at CGD High School. The 3 teams were joined by Belmond-Klemme, (1A) #9 Saint Ansgar, Estherville-Lincoln Central and Clear Lake.
CGD started their day with a 2-0 loss at the hands of Belmond-Klemme by sets of 19-21 and 18-21, before bouncing back with a win over Eagle Grove by a margin of 2-1 (19-21, 21-17, 15-6). CGD would be swept by Saint Ansgar by a 2-0 margin (13-21, 10-21), before the Cowgirls swept South Hamilton 2-0 (21-13, 21-11). The Cowgirls ended the day with a 2-0 loss to Clear Lake (17-21, 17-21) to finish the day with a 2-3 record.
Eagle Grove would start their day with their 2-1 loss to CGD (21-19, 17-21, 6-15), before falling to Estherville-Lincoln Central by a 2-0 score (11-21, 15-21). Eagle Grove finished their day with a loss to Saint Ansgar by a 2-0 final (18-21, 12-21).
South Hamilton would begin their tournament with a loss to North Butler by a score of 2-1 (19-21, 21-18, 4-15), before getting swept by Saint Ansgar by a score of 2-0 (4-21, 4-21). The Hawks would lose to Clarion-Goldfield-Dows by a 2-0 margin (13-21, 11-21) to end their day.
South Hamilton volleyball returns to action on Tuesday, as they host Nevada at South Hamilton High School at 6:30 PM on 95.7 KQWC. Eagle Grove volleyball returns to action on Tuesday, as they make the trip to Britt to take on West Hancock in Top of Iowa West action at 7 PM, while CGD volleyball returns to action on Thursday, when they open NCC play with Iowa Falls-Alden at CGD High School at 7:30 PM on 95.7 KQWC.
