The Webster City Lynx volleyball team opened their 2024 home slate on Thursday night, as they hosted the Boone Toreadors in non-conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 1-2, while Boone entered their first game of the season.
Webster City took control from the out set, keeping the Toreadors at arms length to take set 1 by a score of 25-17. Boone would inch closer in the 2nd set, but Webster City managed to pull away late for a 25-20 win to go up 2-0. The Toreadors would provide its best fight in the 3rd period, continuously tying the score past the halfway point of the set. However, it was Webster City that slammed the door shut late for a 25-20 win and a 3-0 sweep.
The Player of the Game was senior middle hitter Marissa Hedeen, who tallied 12 kills and an ace on Thursday night. Olivia Gallentine would have a big night, collecting 9 kills and 14 assists, while Tristyn Wright had 13 assists and 2 kills.
Webster City volleyball returns to action on Saturday morning, when they compete in the St. Edmond Tournament at St. Edmond High School at Fort Dodge, beginning at 8:30 AM.
