The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they opened their Class 3A, Region 4 bracket by hosting the OABCIG Falcons at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove. Eagle Grove entered with a record of 15-7, while OABCIG entered at 5-15.
Eagle Grove wasted no time in pouncing on the Falcons, putting up 7 runs in the first inning to take a 7-0 lead. The Eagles would add a run in the 2nd, followed by a run in the 4th as they held a 9-1 lead and held on for a 9-1 win.
Addy Jeske would go 2-for-3 with a triple and 3 RBI, while Celeste Figueroa was 4-for-4 with a double, 3 singles and an RBI, as Olivia Conaway also went 1-for-4 with a single and 3 RBI. Brooklyn Osborn picked up the win, allowing 1 run on 5 hits and striking out 5 batters in 6 innings of work.
Eagle Grove softball advances to face Southeast Valley in their Class 3A, Region 4 semifinal, with first pitch at 7 PM on Saturday night at Greenwood Park.
