The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball and softball teams were well represented in the 2024 Top of Iowa West All-Conference Teams and Awards that were released on Tuesday.
Eagle Grove softball coach Jim McLaughlin was named conference coach of the year, leading the Eagles to a 15-7 record, their best mark since going 22-13 in 2014, their first year in the Top of Iowa Conference. The Eagles would see a pair of 1st team all-conference selections in junior shortstop Addy Jeske and junior center fielder Tarissa Middleton. Second team All-Conference selections for the Eagles included senior pitcher Brooklyn Osborn and junior infielder Myah Edwards, while sophomore infielder Crystal Flores was named all-conference honorable mention.
As for Eagle Grove baseball, senior catcher Jake Jeske was named conference player of the year, as Jeske held a slash line of .529/.648/.853/1.501 and had a conference-high 4 home runs and 27 RBI, along with 29 stolen bases and a fielding percentage of .985. The Eagles saw a trio of 1st team selections, including Jeske, senior left fielder Mack Morgan and sophomore center fielder Syrus Willard. Eagle Grove would have 4 second-team selections with senior third basemen and pitcher Nolan Krauss, sophomore designated hitter Leelan Spencer, freshman catcher Trenton Robinson and senior first basemen Drake Canavan, while junior utility player Jaxon Morris was an all-conference honorable mention.
Eagle Grove softball opens their postseason by hosting OABCIG on Thursday night at 7 PM at Greenwood Park, while Eagle Grove’s baseball season concluded on Saturday with a 14-10 record.
