Two people rescued in Sunday afternoon incident on the Boone River.

On Sunday, July 7, 2024, WCFD received a call from two people who were kayaking and became stuck on a log on the Boone River. The Boone River at that time had raised overnight by about 6 inches and was moving very rapidly. Rescue Boat 1 responded along with Rescue 35 for search and rescue. The two people were reported last seen around the Albright landing.
Boat 1 put in there and began the search.
Stratford Fire, Van Diest Medical, and Hamilton County Sheriff and Conservation also responded to the area for assistance and were stationed at the Albright landing and Stratford Fire staged at Tunnel Mill landing.
Boat 1 located the female who was hanging onto the kayak in the river floating down towards the Beaver entrance.
Boat 1, including Firefighters Captain Sowle, Lt. Madsen, and FF Hunter Hayes were able to get both people into the boat and take them to safety. Once on the ground, Van Diest Medical gave the patient care and was able to release them with no injuries.
This was a great example of Hamilton County’s emergency services working together for the good of our community. Special thanks to all who responded to this rescue and for the positive outcome of this rescue.
