The Webster City Lynx and Roland-Story Norsemen softball teams returned to action on Monday night, as the two faced off with one another at the Hennessey Diamonds in Roland. Webster City entered with a record of 14-11, while Roland-Story entered at 7-20.
Webster City started the night fast, putting up 3 runs in the 1st off a Breanna Bahrenfuss 2-run RBI single and a Jakaela Cherry sac fly to go up 3-0. The Lynx added 2 more runs in the 2nd on a Delainey Bargfrede RBI groundout and a run scoring on an error to go up 5-0, before Addy Tesdahl drove in a run on an RBI single to make it 6-0. Roland-Story began to rally in the 5th off an RBI single from Josie Ramus and a Keely Oberender RBI triple to make it 6-2. The Norsemen continued their rally into the 6th, as a run scored off a Webster City error, but with runners on 2nd and 3rd, Addy Tesdahl would make a game-saving play with a diving catch in right center to end the inning. Webster City put up 2 runs on wild pitches in the 7th, before locking down an 8-3 victory.
Breanna Bahrenfuss went 1-for-3 with a 2-run RBI single, while Adeline Tesdahl went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Delainey Bargfrede pitched the complete game, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and striking out 11. Josie Ramus would go 2-for-3 on the day with an RBI, while Keely Oberender was 1-for-4 with an RBI triple. Miley Geise was charged with the loss, allowing 6 runs on 6 hits and striking out 3 batters.
Webster City softball returns to action on Tuesday, when they host (1A) #4 St. Edmond in North Central Conference action at 7:30 PM. Roland-Story softball returns to action on Tuesday, when they host (1A) #12 Clarksville at the Hennessey Diamonds in Roland at 7:30 PM.
