Eagle Grove softball outlasts Southeast Valley in 9 innings, 7-5

The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip to Webster County to take on the Southeast Valley Jaguars at the Southeast Valley Softball Field in Harcourt. Eagle Grove entered at 14-6, while Southeast Valley entered at 15-7.

Southeast Valley took the early advantage with 2 runs in the first to go up 2-0. The Jaguars added another run in the 4th to take a 3-0 lead, but Eagle Grove rallied to tie the game at 3-3 in the 5th, before taking the lead in the 6th at 4-3. Southeast Valley would tie the game in the 7th at 4-4, sending it to extra innings. Both sides traded a run in the 8th to make it 5-5, but Eagle Grove put up 2 runs in the 9th before locking down a 7-5 win.

Tarissa Middleton would go 3-for-5 with a triple and 2 RBI, while Brooklyn Osborn drove in 2 runs as well. Mya Morgan went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, while pitching all 9 innings, allowing 5 runs on 12 hits and striking out 5.

Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Algona to take on Bishop Garrigan in Top of Iowa West action at 6 PM.
