Webster City baseball downs Osage, 7-1

The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they hosted the Osage Green Devils in non-conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 14-9, while Osage entered at 15-5.

Osage would take the initial lead on Thursday, driving in a run on a fielder’s choice to make it 1-0. Webster City answered in the bottom of the frame with a Keegan Hisler steal of home to tie the game at 1-1. The Lynx would then blow the game open in the 2nd, thanks to a Jaxon Griffith 2-run RBI single, followed by a Matt Tesdahl 2-run RBI single and capped off by a Josh Stansfield 2-run RBI double to make it 7-1 Lynx. Both teams pitching staff’s would trade zeros the rest of the way as Webster City capped a 7-1 win.

Matt Tesdahl would go 3-for-4 with 2 RBI, while Jaxon Griffith was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI and 2 runs, and Josh Stansfield was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI and a double. Alex Stanley picked up the win on the mound, pitching 5 innings and allowing 1 run on 5 hits and striking out 9.
