The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they hosted the South Hardin Tigers in non-conference action for senior night at Norsemen Field in Story City. Roland-Story entered at 13-14, while South Hardin entered at 12-9.
After a scoreless 1st, the Norsemen took the lead on a Sam Knoll safety squeeze that scored brother Jake Knoll to put Roland-Story up 1-0. Roland-Story wouldn’t score again until the 5th, when Brett Schmitz reached on an error, allowing Aiden Frey to score to make it 2-0. From there the defenses dominated as Roland-Story held serve for a 2-0 win.
Collin Willis would go 2-for-3 on the night, while Sam Knoll was 1-for-3 with an RBI bunt single. Cael Faber picked up the win on the mound, pitching a complete game shutout with 6 hits allowed and 7 strikeouts.
Roland-Story baseball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Mason City to take on (1A) #3 Mason City Newman in a varsity doubleheader, beginning at 5 PM.
