The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the North Union Warriors in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove. Eagle Grove entered at 11-9, while North Union entered at 8-9.
North Union put up a run in the top of the 1st, only to be rebuked by 3 Eagle Grove runs in the bottom of the frame to make it 3-1. North Union tied the game at 3-3 in the 3rd, but Eagle Grove took the lead back at 4-3 in the bottom of the 3rd. The Warriors would jump ahead in the top of the 5th with 2 runs, to lead 5-4, but Eagle Grove would put up 2 runs in the 5th and 3 more runs in the 6th to close out a 9-5 victory.
Nolan Krauss would have the top day at the plate for Eagle Grove, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBI and a double, while Jake Jeske went 1-for-4 with a 2-run RBI double. Syrus Willard was the winning pitcher of record, going 4.1 innings and allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 4 hits and striking out 4. Jaxon Morris closed the game, pitching the final 2.2 innings, allowing no runs on no hits and struck out 1, while also going 1-for-3 with 2 RBI.
Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Buffalo Center to take on North Iowa in Top of Iowa West action at 7:30 PM.
