The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows softball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Cardinals of Garner-Hayfield-Ventura in non-conference action at CGD High School. CGD entered with a record of 1-17, while GHV also entered with a similar 1-17 record.
After a scoreless 1st, CGD put up 5 runs in the 2nd to take a 5-0 lead, that was soon extended to 6-0 after a run in the 3rd. GHV would put up 2 runs in the top of the 4th to make it 6-2, but CGD put up 2 runs in the 5th and 3 runs in the 6th to close out an 11-3 senior night victory.
Freshman Ella Engstrom would go 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI on the night, while Nyla Wibholm would go 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI on the night. Tess Wibholm pitched the complete game, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and striking out 9 batters.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows returns to action on Wednesday, when they host Algona in North Central Conference action at CGD High School at 7:30 PM.
