The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Cardinals of Garner-Hayfield-Ventura in non-conference action at CGD High School for senior night. CGD entered with a record of 7-15, while GHV entered at 12-7.
Tuesday would be a defensive battle between the Cardinals and Cowboys, but it was GHV that would blink in the 4th inning, as CGD scored 4 runs off a Nick Sisson sac fly, a Landen Kakacek RBI single, a Mason Allen RBI single and a passed ball. From there, the CGD bullpen locked things down for a 4-0, senior night victory.
Landen Kakacek would go 2-for-3 with and RBI, while Mason Allen went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Carson Nesheim picked up the win, pitching 4.2 innings and allowing no runs on 2 hits and striking out 5.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball returns to action on Wednesday, as they host Algona in North Central Conference action at 7:30 PM.
