The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip north to take on the Clear Lake Lions in North Central Conference action at Lions Field. Webster City entered with a record of 13-7, while Clear Lake entered at 9-8.
After a scoreless 1st, Webster City put up 2 runs off a Jakaela Cherry RBI single, before Cherry herself scored to make it 2-0 Lynx. The score would remain until the 6th, where the wheels would fall off for Webster City, as the Lynx committed 7 errors in the game as Clear Lake put up 4 unearned runs in the frame to take a 4-2 lead, holding off Webster City in 7th for a 4-2 upset win.
Jakaela Cherry went 1-for-3 with an RBI single, while Breanna Bahrenfuss and Morgan Tempel also collected hits for the Lynx. Delainey Bargfrede pitched 6 innings, allowing 4 runs (0 earned) on 3 hits and striking out 9 in the loss.
Webster City softball returns to action on Wednesday, when they host Iowa Falls-Alden in North Central Conference action at 7:30 PM.
