Webster City baseball shuts out Clear Lake in 5 innings, 10-0

The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip into Cerro Gordo County to take on the Clear Lake Lions in North Central Conference action at Lions Field. Webster City entered at 12-9, while Clear Lake entered at 9-8.

After a scoreless first inning, Webster City put up 3 runs off a Jaxon Griffith RBI single and RBI drawn walks from Keegan Hisler and Matt Tesdahl to make it 3-0. The Lynx put up 3 more runs in the 3rd, with a Josh Griep RBI single, followed by a Braylon Dyvig 2-run RBI single to make it 6-0. A scoreless 4th gave way to a 4-run 5th for the Lynx, with a Josh Stansfield 2-run RBI double, followed by 2 runs scored on Clear Lake errors to make it 10-0. The Clear Lake side was retired in order in the 5th to seal a 10-0, 5 inning victory.

Josh Stansfield would go 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI on the night, while Braylon Dyvig was 1-for-3 with a 2-run RBI single. Josh Griep was 2-for-3 with an RBI single, while also pitching a 1-hit shutout, striking out 4 batters in the win.

Webster City baseball returns to action on Wednesday, when they host Iowa Falls-Alden in North Central Conference action at 7:30 PM.
