The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Monday, when they made the trip east to take on the Nevada Cubs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Nevada High School. Roland-Story entered with a record of 7-17, while Nevada entered with a similar 7-17 record.
Roland-Story would put up 2 runs in the top of the 1st, as Kate Berggren was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, before Mackenzie Peterson scored on a wild pitch to put the Norsemen ahead 2-0. Nevada would then score 2 runs off an Norsemen error in the bottom of the 1st to tie the score at 2-2. Nevada would then put up 2 more runs off a pair of steals at home in the 3rd to go up 4-2, before adding another run on a passed ball in the 4th to go up 5-2, which would be the final.
Kate Berggren went 1-for-1 with an RBI and 2 drawn walks, while Miley Geise went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Geise would also pitch 6 innings allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 4 hits and struck out 8.
Roland-Story softball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to rivals South Hamilton to take on the Hawks in Heart of Iowa Conference action in Jewell at 7:30 PM.
