The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip east to take on the Nevada Cubs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the SCORE Athletic Complex in Nevada. Roland-Story entered at 13-10, while Nevada entered at 8-11.
Nevada would jump all 0ver the Norsemen early, as the Cubs put up 4 runs in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd and 2 more in the 3rd to take an early 8-0 lead. Roland-Story put up 2 runs in the 5th off a 2-run home run from Brett Schmitz to cut the lead to 8-2, but Nevada responded with 3 runs in the 5th to make it 11-2, before ending the game in the 6th with a run to bring the final to 12-2.
Brett Schmitz would go 2-for-3 with a 2-run home run on the day, while Jake Knoll was 1-for-3 with a double. Cael Faber was charged with the loss, allowing 8 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits and struck out 5, as the Norsemen committed 6 errors on Monday.
