The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip north and east to take on the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals in Top of Iowa West action at GHV High School. Eagle Grove entered at 11-5, while GHV entered at 1-17.
Eagle Grove jumped on the Cardinals early, putting 3 runs off a Tarissa Middleton 2-run RBI double, and Brooklyn Osborn RBI single to make it 3-0 Eagle Grove. GHV got a run back in the 2nd on an RBI single by Molly Maurer to make it 3-1, before Eagle Grove put up 2 more runs in the 3rd off 2 passed balls to make it 5-1. The Eagles would put up 3 more runs in the 5th off a Brooklyn Osborn sac fly, a Noel Kovacs RBI single and a GHV error to make it 8-1, before a Tarissa Middleton RBI single in the 6th to bring it to the final of 6-1.
Middleton would go 3-for-4 with 2 RBI, a double and and 2 stolen bases, while Brooklyn Osborn went 1-for-2 with a single and 2 RBI. Osborn picked up the win, pitching 5 innings and allowing 1 run on 4 hits and striking out 3.
Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Tuesday, when they host North Union in Top of Iowa West action Greenwood Park at 6 PM.
