The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip north and east to take on the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals in Top of Iowa West Action at GHV High School. Eagle Grove entered with a record of 11-9, while GHV entered at 12-6.
Monday’s first 2 innings would go scoreless, before Nolan Krauss drove in two runs for Eagle Grove off an RBI single to put the Eagles up 2-0. Defense and pitching would dominate for the next 2 innings, before Eagle Grove put up 2 more runs off a wild pitch and a Jake Jeske RBI single to make it 4-0. Eagle Grove would add another a run on a Jaxon Morris RBI double in the 7th to make it 5-0, before closing the game out, despite a GHV run, for a 5-1 victory.
Nolan Krauss would go 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and a double, while also collecting the win, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing no runs on 1 hit and striking out 5. Drake Canavan would also go 1-for-3 with a triple.
Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Tuesday, when they host North Union in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove at 7:30 PM.
