The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Friday night as they hosted the Humboldt Wildcats in North Central Conference at Webster City High School. Webster City entered with a record of 11-6, while Humboldt entered at 8-10.
Webster City got on the board in the 1st with a run, before putting up 3 runs in the 3rd to jump out to a 4-0 lead. Humboldt began to mount a comeback with a run each in the 4th, 5th and 6th to cut the score to 4-3. However, the Lynx would add a big insurance run in the 6th, before Delainey Bargfrede shutdown the Wildcats in the 7th for a 5-3 win.
Ava Peterson would go 1-for-3 with an RBI double, while Breanna Bahrenfuss would go 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double. Delainey Bargfrede would pitch the complete game, allowing 3 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits and striking out 9 batters.
Webster City would return to action over the weekend at the Norsemen Classic at the Hennessey Diamonds in Roland, as the Lynx fell to Saydel by a final of 2-1, but would hold off AGWSR by a final of 6-5.
Webster City improved to 13-7 on the weekend, and return to action on Monday when they travel to Clear Lake to take on the Lions at 7:30 PM.
