Webster City baseball knocks off Humboldt, 6-5

The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Friday night, as they hosted the Humboldt Wildcats in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 11-9, while Humboldt entered at 12-5.

After a scoreless 1st, Humboldt got on the board with a Grant Dieleman 3-run home run, followed by runs on error and a sac fly by Isaiah Busick to make the score 5-0. Webster City began their rally in the 3rd, plating 2 runs off a Keegan Hisler RBI single and a Briar Klaver RBI groundout to make it 5-2. The Lynx would add another run in the 4th off a Braylon Dyvig RBI single to make it 5-3. The games climax would come in the 6th, with the Lynx escaping a double play off an overturned call, which was immediately followed by a bases-clearing RBI double by Keegan Hisler to put Webster City ahead 6-5. Braylon Dyvig would sit Humboldt down in order in the 7th to clinch the 6-5 win.

Keegan Hisler had the big day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and 2 doubles, while Braylon Dyvig went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Dyvig also picked up the win in a lengthy relief appearance, pitching 6 innings and allowing no runs off 2 hits and striking out 2.

Webster City baseball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Clear Lake to take on the Lions in North Central Conference action at 7:30 PM.
