The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they welcomed in the PCM Mustangs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Norsemen Field in Story City. Roland-Story entered at 13-9, while PCM entered at 7-11.
PCM got on the board first with 2 runs in the 1st to take a 2-0 lead, but Roland-Story battled with a run in the 1st and 2nd to tie it at 2-22. PCM then put up 1 run each in the 3rd and 4th to make it 4-3, as the Norsemen put up a run in the bottom of the 4th. However, PCM’s bats sprung to life in the 6th for 4 runs to take an 8-3 lead. Roland-Story would rally for 2 runs in the 6th and a run in the bottom of the 7th, but the comeback would ultimately fall short in an 8-6 final.
Freshman Gavin Jeter would have the top day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Wyatt Ramus and Sam Knoll also drove in runs for the Norsemen. Colin Willis would be charged with the loss in relief, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and striking out 2 batters.
