Eagle Grove baseball shuts out Manson-Northwest Webster in 5 innings, 10-0

The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they hosted the Manson-Northwest Webster Cougars in non-conference action at Greenwood Park. Eagle Grove entered with a record of 9-9, while Manson-Northwest Webster entered at 1-16.

Eagle Grove would get on the board with a 2-run RBI single from Brett Ascherl in the 2nd to make it 2-0, before scoring a run off a wild pitch in the 3rd to make it 3-0. The Eagles would blow the lid off the game with an 5-run 4th inning, highlighted by a Trenton Robinson 2-run RBI single to make it 8-0. Eagle Grove would add 2 more runs in 5th, the final off a Syrus Willard RBI double, to collect a 10-0, 5-inning victory.

Willard would go 2-for-3 with an RBI double on Wednesday, while Trenton Robinson went 1-for-1 with 2 RBI. Brett Ascherl would go 1-for-3 with a 2-run RBI single, while Jake Jeske picked up the win, allowing no runs on 2 hits and striking out 6 batters in all 5 innings.

Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Garner to take on Garner-Hayfield-Ventura in Top of Iowa West action at 7:30 PM.
