The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they hosted the West Hancock Eagles in non-conference action at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School. CGD entered with a record of 6-13, while West Hancock entered at 1-13.
CGD would be first on the board on Thursday, as Owen Sweeney’s RBI single scored Ethan Hasty to make it 1-0 Cowboys. West Hancock would answer with a run in the 2nd to make it 1-1, but from there, it was all Cowboys. CGD added a run in the 3rd before a prosperous 4th inning to put the Cowboys ahead 6-1. CGD added another insurance run in the 5th to bring the final to 7-1.
Nick Sisson would drive in a pair of runs on Thursday, while Ethan Hasty also drove in a run. Owen Sweeney went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and a double, while also picking up the win, pitching 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 1 hit and striking out 6.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball returns to action on Friday, when they host Clear Lake in North Central Conference action at 7:30 PM.
