The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball teams returned to action on Wednesday night, as they faced off with one another in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 10-9, while CGD entered at 6-12.
Wednesday’s game would be a defensive battle, as Webster City got off to a good start with a 2-run first to go up 2-0. The game would go scoreless from there until the 6th, when CGD got their first run to cut it to 2-1. Webster City answered with 2 more runs in the bottom of the 6th to push the lead to 4-1, as the Lynx held off the Cowboys in the 7th for the win.
Trevyn Lyons would go 1-for-2 with an RBI, while Briar Klaver and Aidan Hrnicek both drove in runs off sac fly’s. Keegan Hisler pitched the complete game, allowing 1 run off 2 hits and striking out 13 batters. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows did not have stats entered in bound as of Thursday morning.
Webster City baseball returns to action on Friday, when they host Humboldt in North Central Conference action at 7:30 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows returns to action on Thursday, when they host West Hancock in non-conference action at 7:30 PM.
