The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip south to the Des Moines metro to take on the (2A) #5 Des Moines Christian Lions in non-conference action at Des Moines Christian School in Urbandale. Webster City entered at 10-8, while DMC entered at 17-2.
Webster City would strike first as Jaxon Griffith scored on a Briar Klaver RBI groundout to put the Lynx ahead 1-0. Des Moines Christian tied it in the 3rd as Jett Each scored on an errant pickoff throw to make it 1-1. The Lynx bats would finally get to Lions ace Brady Andrews in the 5th, as Matt Tesdahl would drive in Jaxon Griffith and Keegan Hisler on a 2-run RBI single, followed Tesdahl scoring on a Josh Stansfield RBI single to make it 4-1 Webster City. DMC would answer in the 6th, as they put up 3 runs in the frame thanks to an error and a pair of sac flies to make it 4-4. The Lions would then walk it off in the 7th off an RBI single from Brady Andrews for a 5-4 win.
Matt Tesdahl would go 1-for-3 with a 2-RBI single, while Josh Stansfield was 1-for-3 with an RBI single. Josh Griep picked up the loss, allowing 5 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits and struck out 3 in 6.2 innings of work.
Webster City baseball returns to action on Wednesday night, when they host Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School beginning at 7:30 PM.
